Allen Brant, wife of Thomas J. Brant and daughter of Mrs. Mary Allen of this
township died at her late home in Utica, Neb on Aug 10 and the remains were
brought here for burial, the funeral taking place on last Monday from the
family residence; burial at Brick Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Brant was one of the
first lady graduate of DePauw University taking her diploma with the class of
1871, the first to graduate ladies from the institution and her bereaved
husband was a graduate of the same class; she was a gifted and scholarly lady,
a loving wife an affectionate daughter and sister and was greatly beloved and
esteemed by all who know her. Her death is deeply mourned and the family have
the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends in their great bereavement. - kbz
